Sweeney for Supervisor

Leadership. Experience. Values.

Sean Sweeney is a father, long-time resident of Tredyffrin, and successful business entrepreneur. Having first-hand experience with important issues facing the township, Sean is motivated to run as Supervisor.

In the current era of hyper-politicization, the citizen's voice has been lost. Sean strives to bring politics back to where it matters — locally. He believes in the power of bi-partisan, solution-oriented compromise with transparency and positive accountability to the taxpayers.

Sean’s energy, enthusiasm, and passion have produced “win-wins” throughout his career. As Supervisor, he will bring his expertise in finance, risk management, and foundation grant-writing to this role as a public servant. He will work and fight for the residents of Tredyffrin — taking problems and finding solutions. Action Matters.

A lifelong volunteer dedicated to bettering our township, Sean’s civic efforts have been recognized and he received the prestigious Nash Community Impact Award sponsored by the Main Line YMCA. He holds a BA in Business from The University of Mount Union and an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University.

Tredyffrin Township has been home to the Sweeney family for over a quarter of a century.

Sean’s wife Caroline is a nurse for the T/E school district and serves as clinic supervisor for the non-profit Children’s Dental Clinic. Their three children are successful graduates of the T/E public schools. Shannon is an insurance broker, Erin is pursuing her M.Ed in elementary education, and Ceara is a junior at The United States Military Academy at West Point.

Sean is committed to serving all who also call Tredyffrin home. By restoring voices to its citizens, our community can come together and once again become world-class in every way.

Current Director of 1251 Capital, a private equity group, Sean has over 40 years of experience providing risk management service and commercial insurance to public entities, non-profit organizations, schools, athletic events, and environmental organizations. Highlights of his impact in our local community include:

  • A successful business entrepreneur, he helped grow a small family insurance agency into a multi-billion dollar international insurance organization.

  • As President/CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Companies, he nurtured a corporate culture focused on “community first” with employees volunteering numerous hours and raising millions of dollars for non-profit organizations including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Ronald McDonald House, and Challenged Athletes Foundation.

  • As Chairman of the Saint Joseph’s University Risk and Insurance Academy, he launched the “Insure the Future for Diversity” campaign to provide full scholarships to minority students.

  • As Co-Chairman for the Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School Capital Campaign, he helped raise 50 million dollars to build the college preparatory high school in the Tioga section of Philadelphia for 600 students from economically challenged backgrounds. The school is a real solution to issues facing our society such as racism, income inequality, and social injustices. It’s an excellent example of a public/private partnership working together to solve problems — the same concept can apply to important issues facing Tredyffrin Township.

Sean's drive for excellence is evident in all aspects of his life. As a former college basketball player, Ironman Triathlete who also buckled at the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race, and summiting Mount Rainier and Mount Hood, excellence in health endeavors is the norm for Sean.

He is a passionate proponent for health and fitness, and a bike-friendly township will reap the health benefits as well.
